Dear Customers,

Sale format and date

Today, we are announcing that Qwertykeys 65 (hereinafter QK65) will be on sale on https://www.qwertykeys.com/products/qk65 at 6PM EST, on 30th of March, 2022. We apologize for not releasing the date earlier as our operation and supplies were impacted by a city-wide lockdown.

We separated the barebones kit (no plate or PCB) and the accessories on two product pages to reduce the actions needed to secure a unit during purchase. Parts inventory will be online at 6:20 PM EST on the same day and will last a week. We hope our customers can take the time to consider the specs and spare parts they need as we do not provide order change service after the sale.

Hence, please be there on time and purchase the barebones kit that you like, with the limit of one unit per order, and purchase plates/PCB later. It is necessary to acquire one plate and one PCB to make your QK65 functional.

This current format has been proven to be efficient for Owlab sales as it provides flexibility of parts choices and simplifies the task into convenient segments. We will continue to monitor the feedback of our customers to optimize the sale experience.

Relationship with Owlab

We also wish to take this letter to introduce a bit more in depth about our relationship with Owlab.

QK65 is not an Owlab product - although it’s a collaborative design. By no means that we are trying to hint that this product will use the same grade of surface processing technique or the same accuracy of machining as Mr. Suit or Spring, at a fraction of their price.

Qwertykeys carries a different mission. Rapid pacing of products and cost-effectiveness differentiate us from other luxurious brands. We focus on more affordable models with the spirit of innovation and more importantly, we wish to bring a similar typing experience of Owlab designs to the entry level market.

We will keep sharing the same community managers, suppliers, internal design concept, and QC team/standards with Owlab to ensure the same bars of quality and operating efficiency without increasing the price.

With that said, as we are not physically the same business entity, we will not be able to ship your QK65 with Owlab keyboard parts. In the future, Owlab will set up an independent website to avoid confusion about the relationship and operate in parallel.

Other frequently asked questions

  1. Why is shipping so expensive?

    1. Because we use commercial couriers like DHL to ship directly from China. Instead of drop shipping via third-party logistics like our stabilizers and switches, this is the fastest route;
    2. We do not use postal service because the commercial shipping insurance does not apply to those couriers - same reason that we do not ship to a lot of countries.
  2. Why it’s direct-shipped over vendors?

    1. Our collaboration with vendors is based on a healthy profit margin with both parties - in plain words, they cannot beat the total price paid after tax and shipping on our website;
    2. No vendor is available for a lot of countries;
    3. The negotiation failed to proceed due to shipping, customs, payment method, and quantities.
  3. What about individual weight? future rounds? Other layouts?

    1. We cannot offer individual weight as they cost a large percentage of the sale price and weighs quite a lot (which leads to expensive shipping);
    2. If we sell all of them out, there will be re-stock. However, it will not be immediate as we are forced to take a break because of the hike in chip price and the covid situation in our supply chain. This is not on the top of this page as we do not wish to create an illusion of hype due to limited supply. We will utilize this break to optimize our process and review the design. Hopefully we can come back with more surprises;
    3. At this moment, we are not planning on other layouts so you might wanna look elsewhere if you need F-row or hate the arrow keys. We do not like false hope.

    Thank you for your time and looking forward for your feedback.

    Best,

    Syrah
